Case Study
NHS Education For Scotland

Midwifery in Scotland faced a dual challenge of high rates of retirement creating a succession planning issue, and embedding an improvement culture. NHS Education for Scotland created a development programme for midwifery leaders in Scotland to tackle both of these issues.

Firefly was selected to deliver the coaching element of the programme and development days. We provided very short, intensive coaching partnerships, built on a strengths-based approach, to 115 participants over the first two years of the programme. Coaching was delivered by phone to maximise value for money, with interim support provided through our signature partnership approach.

Over 85% of programme participants stated that their confidence has increased as a result of the coaching, and the programme has already delivered widespread improvements throughout Scottish midwifery.
